Housing In Munich

Hello, I'll be moving to Munich in mid to early April. The housing is expensive, so I've heard. Would like to know, "just how expensive is expensive?" Looking for a 3 bedroom house/apartment right in Munich or as close by the city as possible. What will something like this cost approximately? I realize there are many variables to all housing. Would we be looking at $2000 U.S. and "up"...and if so. How far "up?" Any thoughts or suggestions out there?
