military service =(

I need advice concerning the obligatory military service for men in germany. If anyone can let me know where i can find english or french information about it, that would help.

My boyfriend and i are working as freelancer and live out of it but now he was asked to start his military service in 2 months. This would not make sense since he would loose all his clients and would'nt be able to keep our business alive. We were also planning to make business overseas.. =(

Is there any way to avoid that? does anybody got experience with that or advice/informations?
