Hi - My name is Steve - I am an American expat in Germany - I live in Frankfurt. I am a health buff who takes alot of vitamins.
The German government is very strict on having vitamins shipped here - they have very strict requirements on how strong the vitamins can be. If they are too strong they will not allow them in. It can be done, but you
need a doctors prescription and you have to have it stamped by a pharmacy.
I have done this, but it is SO much red tape...
Why am I writing ? If I had access to an APO box, I could have the vitamins shipped directly there. The owner of the APO box would then pass them along to me. That way I could bypass the red tape. I was thinking at least someone out there may have connections to the military (you need to have military ties to have an APO box and I don't) and might be willing to help me out...
I would pay for all costs (they would be paid for with my credit card so there would be no cash due) plus 100 EUR a year for your trouble. Would only need to do this 3-4 times a year at most. I am talking vitamins C and B and a few other supplements -stuff you can buy in any health food store in America. I would buy them from vitamin mail order firms in the states and have them shipped to the APO box.
I know this is an unusual request...
Believe me, there is nothing 'funny' going on here. I am just trying to save myself hassle - so much German red tape....
If you have had any dealings with the deutsche Behörde, I am sure you can relate!!!
