Babycare in Munich

My wife and I have recently moved to Munich from Hong Kong with our 6 month old baby. We are located in the GERN area of the city but are fairly mobile. We would appreciate help on a couple of points:

Does anyone know of any groups / organisations where we can drop off our baby for a few hours so that my wife can attend German language classes?

Are there any Mom and baby groups out there where my wife can meet other Moms and our baby can create her own social circle?!

Any weekend family get-togethers, I know it is getting a little cool now but would appreciate the chance of meeting up with others around town.
