moving to Duesseldorf-help!

Just found out we will be moving from Kuala Lumpur, Malayisia to Duesseldorf. We have two boys in grades 6 and 3. Currently they are in an american curriculum. From what I can assess the International School of Duesseldorf is a British curriculum. Has anyone ever done that switch between curriculums and how did it go? Is there a school in or very close to Duesseldorf with an american curriculum?

Also would like recommendations on where expats live in duesseldorf and a good area to look for housing close to the international school. Many thanks.
