Greetings.
I'm an American who has been working for 2 years in Austria, and I have responded to a job offer with a company near Heidelberg. My question is this: What are the major work-related differences between the two countries. For example, in Austria we receive pay 14 times a year. Is this also the case in Germany, cuz I heard it was only 12 or 13.
We are also entitled to 25 paid vacation days. On the 'Net I've read that this can vary in Germany. Are there any hard and fast rules? Is FlexTime (Zeitausgleich) available widely in Germany?
I know a lot of these questions can be answered during an interview, etc., but I want to be armed with all the information I can before that point. Any other information that might helpful in this regard would also be appreciated. This is my first time on this site, but I hope to use it in the future. Thanks a lot!
