Hi all,
I'm a 19 year old female, moving to Cologne from the UK on August 15th, and firstly was just wondering if there was anyone in and around the area who might like to chat and assuage some of my nerve-induced worries ;-)
I'm going to be working as an aupair, and since it's paid on a cash-in-hand basis I was wondering what I am to do regarding registering as a temporary resident (I will be there for a year). I understand you need some evidence of a lease or contract for your place of residence, but obviously I'm not going to have that, since I will essentially be a "guest" in their home even though it is an adjoining apartment! Do I still register in the normal way, or is it unnecessary because I am a British citizen and obviously hold a UK passport!? There's so much conflicting info on the net, I'd be glad to hear someone's experience of this, if anyone can help!
Thanks in advance,
Bridget
