Moving w/ Children advice

Helllo. My family will likely be moviing to Bamberg next year. We have 2 children, 7 and 9, who we need to find a school for. We would like to place them in a German school, but need some advice about whether this is a good idea. We can get them started with some lessons between now and next summer, but will it be enough for them to join a class and keep up: I have no idea how this works! Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
