Bank with low transfer fees?

I am planning an extended stay in Germany (>1 year). While abroad I will still need to make student loan payments to a US company. Does anyone know of a bank that offers funds-transfer to the US at a low rate? Or does anyone have any other suggestions to make payments without incurring a lot of unnecessary fees?
