Meet new people

I've moved near Augsburg last May, and although I speak some German it's been very difficult to have a social life and I'm becoming very lonely. Are there meet ups in Augsburg or surrounding areas?
I'm originally from Canada and I am used to having a very active social life, I never imagined it would be so difficult here.
