Registering in a city

Hallo Leute!

I recently moved to Freiburg and moved in with my girlfriend who came here last year. She is subletting a flat from a guy who is travelling for a year. How do i go about registering as a resident as well? I have a form from the Burgerservice but I think it needs to be filled in by the landlord, who is away. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
