Registering in order to work

Hi everyone.
I have been having major issues trying to register my new address in Germany. I have emailed the registry office without getting replies and I check the website multiple times every morning to look for new appointments. I am an EU citizen from the UK. My question is, can I go ahead and look for work stating my German address even if I haven't officially registered? I need a job!
