Hi there. My husband and I are Americans and he was recently presented with a job opportunity in Pune and if we decide to make the move, we would be settled by the fall of 2011. However, this opportunity happened to come about as we were planning to start a our family. We recently made a trip to Pune and visited Ruby Hall Clinic to which we were told was the best private hospital around. Although the staff was very proud of their hospital, it was a far cry from US standards (for example I witnessed a patient getting blood drawn while standing up in a hallway and the nurse was not using gloves). Please don't get me wrong, I do recognize that this is India and I should not expect US medical standards but the little I saw made me very nervous to even contemplate giving birth in Pune. I'm looking for an expat who is willing share their birthing experience in Pune with me. Our trip was otherwise great and we would considering making the move if it wasn't for the concern with the hospital. I would appreciate any experiences anyone can share. Thanks.
