Europeon Union Citizenship

Hello,I am interested in becoming a citiizen of the Europeon Union and understand that if my grandparents were born and were citizens of one of the EU countries, I can also become a citizen.
However, I am having trouble in obtaining information regarding this.
My grandparents were both citizens of Demark. I would like to be a citizen of the EU so that I could move to either France or Italy and also to work in one of these countries. I am a professional woman and plan to move within the next two years.
I would appreciate any information that anyone could pass on.
I am an Citizen of the USA.
