Any single parents in Rome?

There is a possiblity of a job transfer to Rome within the coming year. I am a single parent of a 3 year old. Has anyone else gone through this experience or considered it? I'm well traveled (global), as is my child, and have lived abroad in my 20's, but considering a relocation with a child in tow is a little more daunting. Any advice or guidance from the otherside is appreciated!
