I was born in Switzerland to a Swiss mother and an Italian father. I am aware that children of Italian citizens automatically acquire Italian citizenship, however, things aren't quite that straight forward in my case. My parents were engaged at the time and when I was born my mother never added my father to my birth certificate. Due to family pressure my father moved back home shortly after my birth and he has refused to acknowledge me as his son. This makes it hard to prove that he is my father. However, here in Switzerland everyone has to register at their local commune and he would have been registered at the same address my mother. I am just wondering if that would make a difference and if that would help me finally get Italian citizenship.
