Cat needs in Italy

Shame on me, only thinking of my needs when I move to Italy in 2014. What about my cat's? Aside from what I need to do to certify my cat's health to enter Italy with my pet, I need to know if pet stores or supermercati have supplies like cat litter. My cat is an indoor cat and will remain so in Italy. I know Italians aren't as enamored of cats as indoor pets -- at least not as passionately as Brits and Yanks. I'd love to hear experiences about vet care, supplies, problems with apartment rentals...just to name a few. How do you keep your cat healthy in Bel Paese? Tom
