AIRE

My husband and I have established residency in Italy and are in the SSN. We are dual citizens American & Italian. When we applied for residency we had a 6 month lease. We will be moving to Spain for 7 months in which we will have to register in the AIRE. When we return to Italy permanently we will have to re-establish residency in the Anagrafe. What we are unsure of is while we are in the process to register will our SSN card still be valid . We will probably only have a short term lease while looking for an apartment to rent long term or to buy. Two concerns will the Anagrafe except a vacation rental or short term under 3 months to establish residency and will we still be covered in that grey area. Has anyone ever experienced leaving the Anagrafe to re-register with problems in the national health care.
