Marrying an Italian

Backstory: My fiancée and I met 4 years ago in Abruzzo. He travels to see me in Canada and I travel to see him in Italy. This is becoming tedious and expensive. I’ve decided to relocate to be with him. Yes, there are many articles about marrying an Italian but I want someone with first hand experience. A list of everything I need. Is it feasible to go there and stay there with the righ permissions? I have my assumptions about all this but I want some real life info. Thank you!
