Best Place for Expats with Children

Hello,

Looking to make the leap to residing in Italy in the next few years. Our daughter will be elementary school age, and we will have a steady income (work from home). My questions are:

What are some good options for cities/towns for US expats to live with children?

What are the best options for schooling elementary school kids?

Can we purchase a home/property (fixer upper is fine)? And will we have to live in it full-time, or is part time residency acceptable?
