Residence by investing

Hi everyone
Has anyone become an Italian resident through investing in a start up?
It's looking like our only option but like a lot of people most of our funds are tied up in our house. When we sell the house we will have the required €s to invest, but when applying you have to prove you have the money in the bank to invest! Anyone know how to get round this? Thank you
