I’ve been looking online at apartments/houses for sale in Italy. I’m still in the states, but I’m in the “Let’s get serious about moving to Italy” plan, plan.
I’ve lived in Italy before as a renter, because of my job.
I did make email contact with a realtor, that was selling an apartment that I really liked from the photos.
She told me that, after I’d looked at a place, I person, and I decided that I wanted to purchase the apartment, that I’d need to present a 5,000 euro check to start the purchasing process. Sort of like a “good faith small deposit that is often used in the states”…
So, does this mean:
1. That I’d need to go to an Italian bank and give them the equivalent of 5,000 euros in USA dollars and they’d then write me a check (somewhat like a “cashier’s check” in the states)?
Or 2. does it mean that I’d need to open an Italian bank account first and then get an Italian check, from my Italian bank account, to present to the realtor?
