Security protocols at larger US financial institutions (FIs) seem to becoming more vigorous to the point where VoIP phone numbers are no longer supported. For years I used a service called IPlum which provides a US number which I use primarily to receive security codes by text or by phone call ported over to my Italian phone number in Italy. Inexpensive and reliable till now. One FI recognizes that my US number is VoIP (Internet based). It has even resulted in facial recognition being ineffective. My research indicates that this will probably happen with other FIs. I have researched eSims offering non-ViOP US numbers with texting ability. I’ve learned this option may work, but the setup must be done in the US. I have to admit I’’m a bit overwhelmed at this point after reaching so many dead ends. I probably am not the first in this forum that has encountered this problem. Is there a reasonably priced solution to enable texts from the US while I am living in Italy?
