Moving to Nairobi

Hello All,
I am in the midst of starting my research on moving to Kenya (Nairobi) at the end of the year. I will be coming from Canada and I am planning on living in Kenya for 1 year. I want to be able to work but there are so many different work permits that I am wondering where to start. I have read that it's difficult to receive a job offer from Kenya inoder to apply for a work permit... is this true?
I am overwhelmed and I am looking for some advice/tips on work - this is just to start!
