Looking for Apt

I'm an artist, planning to spend 7 or 8 months in Morocco, painting. Essaouira appeals, though I have no particular desitination in mind. I'm more concerned with finding suitable accommodation at a very reasonable price. I'm not interested in "tourist" style accommodation. Can anyone suggest a resource for modest, long-ish term accommodation?
