Best Way to Get Criminal Background Checks without going home

Hi everyone, my wife and I are moving from the UK to California. The American Embassy in London want a Criminal Background check form both of us From Mexico as we lived there for more than 1 year. They will not issue us our Greencards until we get these. Does anybody know the best way to get them without visiting Mexico. Thank, Alan.
