OK I'll try and make this quick. I'll be turning 53 in May of this year (09) and have been offered a "semi-golden handshake" from my public service job working as a CADD drafter in the electric utility industry. I'll be getting a pension of about $USD1400/mth starting in June or July. Part of the handshake deal is that I have to retire before June 18, 2009. I've been looking around the net for info on CA living and retirement quite heavilty since last month but needless to say I have a lot to learn in a short amount of time. Not to mention paperwork and such. Anyway, I know for sure I'm not a city boy, but I wouldn't be comfortable in a hammock in the middle of the nite in the jungle either. Maybe I'm asking too much but I would like to find a village close enough to walk to the beach yet far enough away that the touristos are not there all the time. Close enough to shopping that I can taxi back and forth. Internet and cable would be nice but I could easily get by with only internet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
