considering a move for work to panama

I am female in early 60s, who has been interviewing for a healthcare position in Panama, w/operational base in San Jose, Costa Rica. Do have distant family there....but how is this for some one my age, on her own.....coming from California?
Am learning Spanish...wonder about immersion course...and most of all....the social scene, feelings of isolation, etc. Have lived abroad in Europe a few years ago...and traveled in Central America, which I love.
