Residency requirements

Hi again

As a follow up to my other post (moving to Panama or Costa Rica) we are wondering about residency requirements in Panama. We would like to go and we would like to stay. We are not retirees so that won't work. It seems the only sure way, short of an investor status where we would hire some locals, is to pay $300,000 for a home and titled property. It seems to me that surely not everyone does it this way. Am I missing something? I understand some might just leave the country every 3 months or so but that can only go on for so long. As this greatly dictates what kind of property we would purchase I would very much like other's thoughts and/or experiences.

Thanks

Also, we are looking at the Azuero area. Any thoughts or recommendations?
