Vacationing in Panama

My wife & I want to buy a vacation house in Panama, on the beach. We hope to buy a 2+ bdrm, 2+ bath place for use up to a month a year. In 4 - 5 yrs., when our 13 yr. old goes to college, we'll probably buy something different (after having familiarized ourselves a little with Panama) for use most of the year. Can we get a place on a white sand beach near expats so as to mitigate the cultural differences for $250, 000? We love waves! Are the waves primarily on the Pacific side? Thanks,
