To Deb747: I grew up and worked in the Chicago area, blizzards and all and I NEVER want to be cold again. Ditto for my husband from Missouri! The fourth of July 3 years ago we froze in Boquete and the warmest we could get was in hooded sweatshirts from the local dept. store. I googled every expat community in Panama but what we really wanted was to become an integral part of the LOCAL community, not an extension of Little America. And THAT is why we chose Pedasi/Canas. The real estate agents we met were very much a part of the local scene and the people of the Azuero are probably the friendliest and happiest folk in Panama. Hot?! I can discuss hot. 125+ F. in the U.E. where we live now. We NEVER were too hot in Pedasi. There is a breeze right off the water, surfing just down the road, beachcombing and fishing any time at all. We need the water within sight and that's what we have. We cant wait to get there and put our house plans into the hands of a capable builder so we can create our dream home. We were there this October and when they heard we were there, friends came to collect us and take us to the surf hangout just to exchange news over beer and burgers. It already feels like home!
