Prescription Medication/Health Ins.

HI, my husband and I will be moving to Panama for 6 months (longer if we decide to make it permanent). We will be quitting our jobs in the States and will need to get our own health insurance.

Does anyone know of inexpensive health insurance plans that non-residents can purchase? We are in good health so we are only look for catastrophic care.

Also - are prescription medications generally expensive (compared to the US) in Panama? I take levothyroxine for thyroid and my husband takes simvastatin and effexor.

We expect to mainly be in El Valle de Anton and I assume there are pharmacies there.
