checking out Santiago

My plans for traveling through Panama's pacific coast for future retirement purposes beginning next weekend is almost complete except for one place I'm thinking of checking out. I am thinking a spending a little time in Santiago, but can't find much info. on the town. I will have 17 days to cover places from EL Valle and Coronado up through the Azuero Peninsula, and want to make the best use of my time. I would appreciate any info. anybody can give on Santiago.
