I just joined and will be searching the forums diligently, but did want to pose one single question after I introduce myself.
My name is Mike and my wife's name is Mary. We are seriously looking at moving to Panama asap, but it will be anywhere from 4 months to, unfortunately, 3 years :( Depending on multiple, semi-controllable factors.
We currently live in Fairbanks, Alaska. We have lived numerous places during our married life (Multiple US states, Germany and England). I was in the Air Force for 20 years and have traveled, and lived, in many countries over that time. We have lived in Alaska since 1998 and are feeling the wanderlust again.
Here is my main question: With a $1,500/month retirement and $200k banked, could we live in Panama reasonably well? We are leaning toward the Veraguas region, but are open to other suggestions as long as they do not involve Panama City. We are most definitely not 'city' people, at least as far as living in one. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon!
