Flooding

My wife hasn't been able to get through to Arraijan for 2 days ... and my mom-in-law just called this morning telling us a major rain storm came through and flooded Chorrera, Arraijan, Colon and left the entire area w/ out power. Seems the area between Chorrera and Arraijan had a whole community get washed away and the Machetazo even found itself having a foot or two of water on its floor.

Our house missed the flood by less than a 1/4 mile! Although many new houses just down the street still under construction will now need to be torn down because the soft wet ground made them tilt a bit. Looks like I'll need to fly back down that way in the next week or so just so I can see it myself.

How did the rest of you fare?

I saw a blurb on Canal Sur channel last night Martinelli saying the floods were caused by construction workers sealing off or covering up the drain pipes, thus causing flooding. And he announced the construction companies will pay!
