Another interested Canadian

Hi guys:

Well, the header is partly right - it's a Canadian and an expat Brit.....

At long last my wife is due to retire (next August) and we are looking to relocate. Panama is our place of choice and we will be flying down in April to check things out. So far we are looking at Chiriqui and the surrounding provinces but may want a year on the beach to start. Our intention is to rent for a year then look at buying - if that makes financial sense.

I know this is asked a thousand times (and I have gone through the posts) but any advice would be appreciated.

Even though we are healthy now, we are especially concerned about health/drug insurance, and tips?
