Bank interest rates

Hi. I am planning on moving to Pana sometime next year. I was going to go to Costa Rica but I am concerned about the high prices on food and importing of goods and autos. My wife and I are retired with money to invest/protect and I would like to know more about the banking industry, especially the interest rate on CD's and money market accounts. Here is the US we are getting 1% and have lost over 40k a year in the last 4 years.
Any help here would be greatly apppeciated. We hve goverment pensions but need the extra income to live the lifestyle that we have planned to before the US economey blew up. All advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
