Hello. I'm new to this group and new to the idea of retiring in Panama. My wife retired a couple years ago with a pension AND social security... I know, lucky her!!! I on the other hand will just get social security when I turn 62 and a half. We have just started looking at information about retiring in Panama. We have never been there but we HAVE been to Belize, Caribbean, Mexico, so we are not unfamiliar with the "3rd world" look or feel. We are traveling down to panama between January 9th til January 24th 2013. We will be in fuerte amador panama on the 15th of January and are wondering if there would be any expats in the area that we could meet with and talk with about making this move. It would be nice to find someone who moved from the USA and has been there for a couple years. We'd just like to sit and ask questions. Might even be willing to buy lunch for you.
