friendly countries residency

Hello
I am considering applying for residency in Panama via the "friendly countries" law, setting up a corporation, has anyone tried it yet ? I can't seem to find any info from anyone other than attorneys, who are usually promoting themselves.
Also, is it possible to get finance for a business (I am planning to buy a small hotel, partly with a mortgage).
