Just returned from the Police Station in Boquete.
A word to the wise to be careful out there. This fellow Doc got called out of his house south of Boquete by two Panamanians urgently needing to borrow his cell phone.
Apparently there were five of them and I saw the weapon they used on him. About two plus feet long and about an inch and a half in diameter (not Oak, but similar and very hard...). First blow knocked him unconscious for 12 hours as I understand it. (No warning, he had just returned to the house.) I have photos of his legs where they hog tied him so hard it cut into his skin. He managed to inch his way across the floor in the morning where they had left the door to the garage open and fortunately some people found him on the garage floor the next morning and got him untied, etc. He told me he was in so much pain that he wished he had died.
Naturally they took everything from the house including the car. The car has been located.
I have been increasingly concerned as of late.
Also interesting, the police mentioned that Doc probably could not have a gun permit due to his age....
I believe this is the latest in a string of events targeting gringos, although I believe that this one is the most vicious that I know about.
