A few days ago, one of my wife’s aunts was at the Price Smart near the immigrations building on Tumba Muerto … a young mother started yelling for her daughter who was seconds before just beside her. The mother ran and notified the nearest security guard of her missing daughter and they shut the store down in seconds! A quick search didn’t turn the young girl up so security shut down the parking area in the same quick manner. Minutes later the maliantes apparently let the child go when they saw their escape was in jeopardy. The security guards then brought a young boy walking aimlessly inside the store and told management there was no girl found but there was this little boy crying hysterically in the parking lot screaming for his mommy.
To everyone’s surprise, the once lost young girl was now this lost little boy! The kidnappers quickly cut the little girls hair, dressed her in boys clothing for their attempted getaway. All this happened in just minutes of the mother’s first scream in the store for her child! Thankfully, the child was unharmed except a few minor bruises from being manhandled during the quick change of clothes and haircut.
No news on whether the child in question was a North American or Panamanian … but it doesn’t really matter in the whole scheme of things. Parents, please keep watch over your children at all times. If this could happen right there in the middle of a crowded store, this could happen anywhere, at any time! These maliantes are brazen and have no fear of getting caught …
