I flew out of PTY a few weeks ago and met an elderly man who lost his plane tickets, and couldn’t locate his reservation. A rather rude Copa agent refused to assist him in looking up his itinerary and told him to wait till the line ended. By this time he had missed his flight and didn’t have the $$ for the change fee. I found out he was a retired military … and I just happen to know there was a C17 heading back to Charleston the following day. I was able to contact the PTY’s AMC representative and put the two together in hopes he could get a Space Available seat at least back to the states. I all but forgot about it till this morning when this gentleman emailed me to say he made the next day’s flight and was able to get home just fine.
His email went on to say he served 20 years and has been retired for almost 20 more and has NEVER heard about Space Available travel previously. I know there’s many of you out there who are military retired as well. Do you all know there is Space-A opportunities available to you leaving Tucumen? It’s NOT a daily thing, but there are usually 3 or more jets monthly that can carry passengers back to the states for FREE. I placed the FB pages of the usual 4 going to/from PTY as a reference. Each one of these pages post a daily 72 hr forecast of which missions they have w/ passenger possibilities. It would also be wise to sign up for travel with each of them on a regular basis for just-in-case purposes for flying back to Panama. You will also need to contact Anays ([email protected] PTY’s AMC Rep ) to inquire on any available flights departing PTY.
Charleston AFB = http://www.facebook.com/pages/Joint-Base-Charleston-Passenger-Terminal/
Dover AFB = http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dover-Passenger-Terminal/
Andrews AFB = http://www.facebook.com/pages/Joint-Base-Andrews-Passenger-Terminal/
McGuire AFB = http://www.facebook.com/JBMDLPaxTerm
Many of the flights heading back to the above bases, also stop at a Florida or Texas base before terminating their missions. Should anyone want any more info on the how-to’s of Space-A … feel free to contact me.
BTW … Anays and the above bases can ONLY give a 72 hr flight forecast for OPSEC/COMSEC security reasons.
