Nature Lover

I know all of us have been asking and asking about places to live. The focus seems to be mainly on communities. While I do want to be in reasonable driving of adequate medical facilities and have some access to involvement with expats and possibly interest groups, I definitely want to live in a semi-rural or rural setting. I don't want to see buildings, busy roads or neighbors across the street. I don't like cold weather, which this Texan describes as anything below 68 at night. I would like something tropical with lots of critters. I want to hike, swim and take lots of pictures. I plan on working on photography and painting as my new profession. Haven't used that Art degree much since I got it! Given those parameters what are the options. I am visiting this summer and have a limited budget and amount of time to explore. My plan is to choose a country based on my visits (Nicaragua and Panama) and jump in taking the minimum with me - my pets and bare necessities - when my retirement comes up next December. Panama seems the most stable and has great benefits for pensianados but it is also the most urban. I plan to have an open mind and be willing to move if a place doesn't suite.
