Driving on the Pan-American Highway

They are in the process of widening the Pan-American highway between Santiago and David so it will be 4 lanes. Because of the construction in my opinion it is best not to drive this section of the highway after dark. The lights from the oncoming traffic temporarily blinds you and you can't see places where the road abruptly drops off. There have been several serious accidents in this section of the highway. The trucks and buses drive at an excessively high speed considering the construction. I imagine it will take a couple of years to complete this project. In the daylight it is much safer.
