I have so appreciated the wise advice that everyone shared with me, to skip the IL conference and just come on a scouting trip.... and welcoming meetings with other expats.
I would like to meet with anyone interested in mentoring our first experience of moving away from the USA. Please contact me if you'd like to meet for coffee mid-morning before I go touring around... or dinner around 7pm close to my hotels, any of the days I am in Panama, and if it is a small party, I will be happy to treat for the restaurant bill. If a bunch of you can meet me... well the first round is on me!
I am not so sure my cell phone will work for texting, but if you PM me this week, I will give you my cell number.
I am also listing my hotels with dates, and you could leave a message for me there as well. And I should be able to check emails frequently, so again a Private Message through this forum can help us plan to meet.
I am so excited to meet like-minded people who would like to share advice for the move and your expat experiences.
Here's my schedule (it's a quick first trip to be sure):
March 30-31, Toscana Inn Hotel in Panama City.
April 1st-6th renting an apartment in Boquete.
Possibly April 3-5, a trip to Bocas del Toro.
April 6-9th, staying in Pedasi, but hotel not yet confirmed. Hoping for Casa Margarita, upon advice from a few of you!
April 9th, Riande Aeropuerto Hotel at PTY Airport before my early departure on April 10th.
I will have a rental car, so I can meet you in a cafe, or if you'd like to meet in the lobby of my hotel, I won't be as likely to get lost! ;-)))
My husband and I are feeling very sure we want to move to Panama in the next year. We have done a lot of reading and the expat exchange has become my go-to source for great advice!
