I've been given this some thought. Panama City has some good hospitals. But other expats want to live away from Panama City. They might be an hours drive away. And traffic can be a nightmare, with terrible drivers.
So what happens in a medical emergency? I started thinking about helicopter ambulance services. And a Google research did show some in Panama.
But how would this work and is it practical? Suppose I am living an hour away from Panama City. Do I dial 911, which I understand is in development? Would one call one of these services directly? And do you need to establish a contract with them beforehand? Will they get you to a hospital quickly and efficiently? Please give me your perspective.
