Panama or Costa Rica?

I would like to hear from people who have lived in one of the towns near San Jose, Costa Rica and near Boquete, Panama. Why have you picked one or the other or moved between the countries. We are considering semi-retiring before too long and are interested in both areas. We are in our 60's.
