Buy a motor scooter!

Most Xpats would not consider this seriously but I highly recommend considering buying a motorscooter! Now, this would depend on where you live. If you live in an área where traffic is not bad this is a great idea. Motorscooters are fairly cheap to buy and maintenance is also very cheap. I know, this is not a good idea for everyone. But, I have been using motorscooters for the last 5 years here and it has been a very positive experience. I rarely if ever ride in a car or bus. Try it. You might like it.
