My girlfriend & I are both US citizens. She gets social security but only about $500/month. We are not retired. I trade the Forex and futures markets for a living.
We have been looking at Ecuador for investment and possible residence but we like many things about Panama, especially the Boquette area.
We do not have substantial funds to put in a bank, nor do we have pension income. What are the rules for the friendly nations visa (is the US considered a friendly nation?) and what other types of residency visas might work for us?
Is there any advantage to residency over staying in the country on a tourist visa and periodically leaving & returning? Can one own property in Panama without residency? Can one keep a car & drive without residency?
