Curious about some of the night creatures sounds. One makes a sound like a woodpecker, but much, much louder that seems to start around sunset and continue on non-stop for hours - often past midnight. We've been in our current location for 3 months now and they are virtually every night all that time.
Then another one sounds like a chirrup but descending in tone at the end. It too continues for hours.
Does anyone know what these sounds might be or how we could find out? We've spend hours googling for recordings of sounds but cannot find anything close.
Can anyone suggest how we can find out what these sounds are?
The other people in this complex aren't sure and non of the Panamanians we know seem to know either.
We think maybe some lizards or frogs? We're quite sure they're not birds because of how long the sounds continue and we do have some rather large lizards in our gardens. We have iguanas and some other large lizards about 2.5 feet long. As well we have a largish pond with lots of water lilies so maybe frogs?
